Technorati Ranking
Jun 24th
I usually don’t post on Sundays because I feel that most of my readers are taking the day off from the computer and spending time with their families but this was something that I just had to talk about. Many of you who blog on a daily basis are more than familiar with Technorati and what having a good Technorati rating can do for you. I started my blog mid-may of 2007 and ever since then I have learned a lot about Technorati. about 9 days ago when I reported my 1st month earnings, I declared that my Technorati authority was 3 and that I was ranked over 1,000,000 at that time. Well, ever since then I have been trying to raise up my ranking through a Link Exchange that I still have going on.
In fact, the link exchange helped so much that I was absolutely amazed when I saw what my Technorati ranking looked like. I now having an authority of 12 with a rank of about 470,000 and I know that it may not be the highest to some of you but thats a real jump from where I was a little over a week ago. My Alexa rating has also dropped about a 110,000 to the 800k range now compared to 9 days ago. Thats some pretty good news!
What I intend to do through this post is to get some more people to sign on to my Link Exchange and seeing that my rating is going up, it may be useful for you to get a link back from my blog. As of now, its really pretty simple to get linked back and you may have noticed that I have started to back link a lot of those blogs in my other posts too because I actually became hooked and subscribed to their RSS feed.
Basically, all you have to do is is to write two lines about my blog with a link to the main page which is http://www.enkayblog.com and its that simple! After you have done so, you can either reply back to this post by commenting or by sending me an email with your URL and preferred anchor text and I will publish your link on this blog as soon as the first batch is ready! Here is an example of what I expect.
Enkay Blog is a blog about Technology, Business, Cars and Reviews. He will give you a free backlink if you review his blog.
Its that simple folks, so its a good way to raise up your ranking too and I am generally quick to respond to my email so as soon as I know that you have linked to me, I will add you to my next batch! Thanks guys!
Build Your Own Chopper Frame!
Jun 24th

We have all seen the fat tires and custom paints, we have all heard the loud engines of the monster bikes that are called Custom Choppers and even more, we all know the price tag some of these bikes carry. West Coast Customs publicized the idea of Custom Choppers on television thereby enhancing their popularity and making it a benchmark for most other chopper wanna bees. Most people would rather just buy their custom chopper from a dealer or bike builder but what if you want to do it yourself? Well, Recently Custom-Choppers-Guide requested a review from me on ReviewMe regarding 9 common frame building problems and how to avoid then. This guide is for veteran and novice bike builders who wish to save time creating their motorcycle frame. Building A Custom Chopper Frame is not an easy task but, if you visit the website you will see that all you need to do is type in your email address and name and you should be signed up to receive installments of the 9 common frame building problems. The tips that they have provided so far are pretty good even though I have a suggestion. The only thing I suggest is to compile the problems and suggestions into an eBook so that it is actually downloadable in one file. Currently, I have received emails with the tips and as of now, there are still 7 installments of the email I do not have. Having an eBook would make it easier to access the information in one file itself. Other than that, its a great website and so far the tips provided are great. Hope you guys have the time to check this website out.
Feed Issues
Jun 23rd
Recently Jay from Online Opportunity notified me that my feed hasn’t been loading well and I can’t figure out the reason for this. Both my blog feed and my feedburner feed are now linked through FeedSmith and I can’t seem to figure out why the readers aren’t able to pick up the feed. Some of the readers that are able to pick up the feed are displaying the feed in a very odd way, the images are centered and the text is located all around the images. It makes the feed unreadable. I am a little concerned because I really don’t know how to resolve this issue. I use Bloglines and I haven’t had an issue with other feeds and it seems odd that my feed is the one that is having the issues. If anyone is able to assist me in this matter, please comment back. I would really appreciate it! Thanks!
Update (8:22am CST): The feeds now seem to be working fine and all the posts have been edited due to coding issues that were causing the images to be displayed in an odd manner. Since most feed readers only update the first 10 posts this is causing the rest of the posts to still display the misaligned images. Sorry for the confusion and I am really sorry if your reader displays a few repeat posts but from now onwards the feed will display properly.
Also, I have a new car review coming up in next day or two since I usually don’t post on Sundays. Recently I test drove the 2007 Toyota Rav4 and due to its popularity it might be a good idea if this small SUV lives up to its predecessors.
Having Focus in Your Blog
Jun 23rd
Recently, I have read several blogs including Online Opportunity talk about picking a focus for your blog and sticking to it. If you are planning on starting your own blog you should realize that if you wish for your visitors to come back or subscribe, you cannot have a loose focus. Meaning, you should let your visitors know what subjects you will be addressing on your blog and stick to that. The occasional off-subject post is considered O.K but its usually nice to stay within your boundaries, in terms of topic.
What is my focus?
So you might be wondering what I focus on in my blog. Mostly I talk about technology, cars, blogging, business and once in a while i throw in a little entertainment. By entertainment I don’t mean the Hollywood news but videos that I have found around the web. Some might even categorize the blog as a personal blog however, I don’t see myself talking too much about my personal life. I do provide my opinion on certain news stories dealing with technology and business but I also want my readers to be able to gain some knowledge about what is going on beyond the realm of blogging itself. Personally, I would talk about making money online but as most would agree, there are already several players in that part of the blogging world and I am not too well established to shed light on a subject that I am not too familiar with. That brings me to my next segment : Knowing What You Blog About.
Knowing What You Blog About: Credibility
When you have a blog, you have a certain responsibility towards your readers in assuring them that you do have knowledge about the subject that you are addressing. You cannot blog about something just because it may seem entertaining to you. You have to have a certain degree of knowledge about the subject because you have to be able to let your readers know that you have credibility. For example, I can talk about Business because I am in college pursuing a double major in business and I have read quite a bit about management and marketing strategies. I am also a car enthusiast and therefore I could review cars and talk about them however, I cannot provide advice on car repairs or anything of that sort because I don’t know much about those sorts of things. So, you have to see what your strong points are and what you are knowledgeable about and focus on those things.
Going Off-Subject
Its not bad to go off-subject but you shouldn’t do it too often. If you have visited my blog you may see the occasional video from Youtube but that is merely for entertainment. Sometimes, I feel that my readers may enjoy a certain video that they may not have seen and that is the only time that I would actually have a video entry. I always try and stay on my blog focus because even though your off-subject posts may get you more hits from time to time, those readers will never be committed. If someone visits your website after discovering an off-topic post that came up in a Google Search, they may only visit your website once, however, if you have a readership base, those readers will always return if you maintain a focus. Before posting an entry, always think whether or not your readers will accept reading the post or if that particular post wont hurt your current readership. All in all, going off subject once in a while cant be too detrimental but doing it too often may not help you very much either.
Unrelated Reviews
If you are a ReviewMe or SponsoredReviews member then you may get review offers from potential clients however you should always see whether the website or software that you have to review is something that your readers wont mind reading. You also have to remember that you cannot accept reviews for Golfing if you have a Technology blog because the subject matter will conflict and that isn’t too good for the advertiser or for you. I do accept quite a lot of reviews but mainly I like to accept reviews that have to do with some sort of online web service or software because that blends with the Technology category. Also, once your blog starts gaining popularity then it may be a good idea to not accept as many review offers anymore because your readers may not be receptive to an overloading of reviews. You have to remember that your readers like to see more of your content and less of the sponsored reviews unless the reviews are related to your niche.
So, I hope that you enjoyed reading this post about having focus in your blog and I can tell you that if you maintain your focus then your readership base will continue to grow as your readers will be more inclined to return if they have an expectation of what you are going to talk about. How do you guys deal with off-topic posts that are interesting but may be a little unrelated to your niche? Well, Stay tuned, I have a very interesting review coming up!
eNotifyMe.com Reviewed!
Jun 22nd
So today I got a Review offer on ReviewMe from enotifyme and from the name itself i was able to guess what this service was about. After clicking on the link, I actually came to know what this website has to offer. What enotifyme offers is a service that will let you take control of your email. Essentially, it will let you receive your email on your home phone, cell phone, fax, pager or PDA. Its a 3 step process.
1) You need to login and forward your existing email to the new enotifyme email account you created.
2) Secondly, you put in your information in the setup wizard that will let you configure the devices that can be anything from a phone, pager, fax, pda or alternate email and will let you set your own trigger conditions. The trigger conditions are what let you decide how you wish to be notified.
3) Lastly, all you have to do is wait for enotifyme to notify you regarding your email.
Overall, this seems like a really good idea and for the price of under $5 per month it seems quite reasonable too. Although, I dont see much of a consumer market for this type of service for the regular working class. I see it more for the average businessman who needs to be connected to his email at all times. But then again, the Blackberry has now got those bases covered so I wonder how many individuals actually use enotifyme but If you haven’t seen it in action, then head over to the website!
