Sunday Update – Female Blogger List

September 30th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Blog, General

Well, the second edition of the Female Blogger List has just been updated and now has around 86 female bloggers. I wasn’t able to get some of the Alexa updates in but they will be updated by the next go around. Its really difficult to put together a list specially if you really haven’t figured out how to get data directly from Alexa and Technorati but I will be working on that in the coming week and that would allow for the updates to be made automatically to the list so that the list is updated more frequently.

I hope that you like the list and a big thank you to Nick who helped me find quite a few problems with the first list. The algorithm has been adjusted more and so hopefully some of those problems should have disappeared by now. Ofcourse, some problems may still persist but this is still in a work in progress so in the upcoming weeks those issues should also be resolved. So please have a look and if you know someone that is on the list, do let them know and ask them to blog about it since the list has received attention but not as much as I would expect considering quite a few of the bloggers don’t even know that they are on such a list! Once again, thank you to all who have supported me!

What Do You Use To Blog?

What Do You Use To Blog?

This is a topic that hasn’t been brought up on Enkay Blog before but it is something that came to me when I noticed that I was running out of time during the span of one day. Nowadays my time is mostly devoured by school but I still want to blog and now that I have a little bit of free time, I wanted to quench my thirst for blogging.

Most bloggers have a specific way they blog, some use laptops, desktops and others like the traditional method of pen and paper. As for me, I’m not a laptop guy because I don’t see much use for it based on my lifestyle. I would like to have a laptop but even still the screen would have to be 12″ or less so that its ultraportable. Speaking of current situations, I do not use a laptop and don’t really own one. The two ways that I blog are:

1) My Desktop – My Desktop is a 4 year old Dell that is probably the best purchase I have made in my life. It is a 3.0Ghz HT Technology P4 with 1GB of RAM, 160GB Internal, 250GB External hard drive and Dual DVD+/-RW drives. Some might think that I have “upgraded” the machine but other than the external hard drive and the 22″ Samsung Monitor, pretty much everything else is stock. Some pretty decent specs and this machine is used for everything. I play games on it (occasionally), watch movies, do my blogging and ofcourse, all my studying on it. For me, The desktop is the best machine to get your tasks accomplished, although laptops today are also highly powerful and capable, I just can’t imagine walking around with one unless its really portable.

2) My NEC MobilePro 780 – Some of you may laugh when I say this but NEC made a device called the MobilePro back in the day and its quite small, has around a 8.1″ color screen and has an attached keyboard which is the biggest selling point for me. This device is slow to run most applications as it is Windows CE 2.11 however, it does a fantastic job in my eyes. It has all the word processing tools that I need including excel and powerpoint and even allows me to access the internet with the use of an external wifi card. The best part about the NEC is that its tiny. I was able to find an original brochure that you can see to get an idea what it looks like. The basic idea is that its highly portable and gets the job done.

What Do You Use To Blog?
I have to ask some of you about your preference when it comes to blogging. What device do you prefer and how many devices do you actually use. Ofcourse, some of you may have more than one desktop or laptop but its all about which ones you use to blog. It would be interesting to see if anyone has a device like the MobilePro. So lets see those responses!

The Wall Of Blogs & Female Blogger List!

September 28th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Blog, General

The Wall Of Blogs
This is my one month old project called The Wall of Blogs. Considering I have a lot more new visitors now, I decided to do a second post about it. The concept of The Wall of Blogs is that you get a 125×125 ad block for $5 for life. This is different from most other “pixel sites” mainly because everyone gets coverage on the top fold of the page and this is done through rotation. As you will notice, The Wall is divided into sections and as one section sells out, another section is opened up. On a daily basis, they will be rotated to give all the sponsors equal coverage.

Why Do I Need To Reserve My Spot?
1) Its the First Wall of Fame for Bloggers that rotates to provide for equal coverage.
2) You get a much bigger space (125×125) for only 5 bucks!
3) You have the chance of winning two prizes, each is a cash prize of $500.

I almost forgot, there is a cash reward for being part of the wall. I plan on having 640 spots out of which, 38 are already sold. As soon as half the spots or 320 of the spots are sold, I will draw one lucky winner who will take home $500 in cash! Once the rest of the spots are sold, another winner will be picked and will take home another $500! Its probably the best bang for your buck so definitely go and check it out and reserve your spot!

Female Blogger List Update
The Female Blogger list will be updated on Sunday and this time around a few quirks in the algorithm will be fixed. Also, I have quite a few more blogs to add to the list based on the many nominations I have received since the list has been published. I am very grateful to everyone who has blogged about it, but it seems as though the list hasn’t gotten the publicity that it should and hopefully after Sunday, many more bloggers will start to talk about it.

I will be sending an email out to all the bloggers on the Top 100 List on Sunday (Yes, Top 100!) and will be letting them know since a few of them who discovered the list were surprised to know that the list even existed. I would really appreciate if you could blog about it, but hopefully after Sunday, most of the females on the list will be notified of the honor that has been bestowed upon them. Thank you once again to everyone who has helped promote this, specially Liz Strauss and Deborah Ng, I really appreciate it!

Contest Galore!

September 27th, 2007 | 5 Comments | Posted in Blog, Contests, General

Well, its been a long time since ive featured some contests so I figured that Thursday is the perfect day to do so. Theres several great contests going on so lets take a look and see what we have.

1. Beef Jerky’s Comfort Contest – The man behind Beef Jerky blog was probably one of my blog’s first visitors and now that he has his first contest going. I wanted to give him a little exposure and enter it considering the fact that those chairs look awesome to crash on after a late night of studying. Best part is, its easy to enter. The Beef Jerky Blog knows how to have a contest called the comfort contest and they are giving away these awesome fuf chairs to two lucky winners so go ahead and try your luck!

2. John Cow’s 500 Bucks! – The Cows love giving money away and considering that they are a make money online blog, you would assume that the way to get visitors was to share the wealth. Well, they’ve teamed up with a great web hosting company and are sharing the love by giving away $500 bucks so why don’t you go check this one out specially because its not too complicated to enter and the fact that the Cows are legit, you are guaranteed the prize!

3. The FiddyP Headphones – Well, probably the coolest looking headphones are up for grabs in this contest at the FiddyP Blog and the best thing is, no matter where you are, he will ship it out to you. These headphones have some great reviews so it would be awesome to win them. Maybe ill even give them away! :)

4. Fill In The Blanks with Blogging With Cents – This contest is quite fun and creative I might add. You have to copy paste a pre-typed fill-in-the-blank paragraph and make it a unique story. Heres mine

I was grazing my cattle about a month ago in the southwest part of Houston. I was slightly ashamed when I realized my plumber’s crack could be seen. You have probably had that experience before. I felt a breeze , and I knew that soon I would have to cover up. I was a little worried about the value of my ranch depreciating due to my over-exposure. But then, all of the sudden, I saw Bozo, my bull, coming right towards me!! I remembered what a cowboy’s wife had told me. It was very important to duck and roll. Before I knew it, I was given the tools and tips to be a man . So you see, I really was paying attention while reading those posts , and I decided I just had to stop Bozo with my muscular might.

5. Its Write Now Nano – Well, everyone loves Nano’s but the new Nanos are even cooler and the guys over at ItsWriteNow are giving one away in their contest. Its probably the simplest contest to enter so I really hope I win it because I would LOVE to give it away!

Well those are the contests for now, hopefully you can go check them out and join in the fun! Wish me luck!

Clear the Clutter – Get Your Documents Scanned!

September 26th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Blog, Other Reviews

Do you work in an office where you have to sort through stacks of paper every day to find the one that you were looking for? If you need your documents scanned and are looking for a professional document scanning service then you have come to the right place. RecordNations is a professional Document Scanning Service that allows business to conver their mess and clutter into digital documents. If you have filing cabinets that are filled with documents then it might be to your advantage to get your documents scanned and converted into electronic copies. Electronic copies are available with anyone who has access to the document database making it very easy to access the data from anywhere in the world. The documents can also be sorted through easily with the help of keywords. Paper documents have to be filed correctly and can be a hassle if they are referred to on a day-to-day basis. Having your documents electronically scanned means that you won’t have to dig through a pile of paperwork before you find the right one. You can use simple keywords to find what you are looking for. If your office could use a little help with clearing the paper clutter then I suggest you check this service out. It seems like they do an excellent job of converting a large stack of paper into an easy-to-use searchable database!
