Pros & Cons of Video Blog Posts!
Oct 2nd
I have always been a big fan of having video posts on blogs but I wonder, how helpful can they be. If you think about it, you might say, well a reader might stay on your blog longer if there is a video to watch but how often can you have a video that is interesting and will make your readers stay? I probably can’t answer that question but it depends on how popular your content is and whether or not your videos are any good in the first place. I have thought about having a video blog post on the blog sometime in the future and I just wanted to know what your thoughts would be on that. Would you ever consider having a video post on your blog?
Pros – Lets take a look at some of the positive things that result from a video post:
1) Visual Appeal: Aside from reading your blog post which gives information, people like watching videos. For example, would you rather read a book or watch a movie on the book? Some might go either way but the movie might be something that most people might pick. Video blog posts allow you to make things a little more interesting for your readers.
2) Personal Connection: When your readers see you in a video clip and how you talk and behave, they will be able to connect with you more because they can feel your emphasis on certain things and probably even pay attention to what you have to say more closely.
3) Better Transfer of Information: A lot of people are very visual and if you have a well designed video, then you could provide that information in a manner that will help your readers in retaining the information and that is a big plus.
Cons – Well those are the positives but what about the negatives, well lets take a look shall we?
1) Time Consuming- Making a video can be quite time consuming, considering that nothing is perfect on the first try and that you might actually have several re-takes before you get the information down right, unless you are a great impromptu speaker and you are able to nail it in the first try.
2) Editing Knowledge- Some people may not have knowledge about transferring video and editing it to be able to make it look more presentable and professional. The last thing your readers want to see is a poorly edited video with bad lighting.
3) Information Display- Sometimes, when you write a post, people can always come back and read it and use it as a reference but in the caes that you have a video, they would have to search the video for information they need and using the “search box” will not help them either. You have to be clever in how you present the information to your audience.
Well those were the pros and cons of having video blog posts on your blog and hopefully once the weather gets better in Texas, I will put together a video blog post but in the mean time let me know your thoughts on how much you like or dislike video posts. Thanks for reading guys!
My Third Star On ReviewMe
Oct 1st
Well, I finally got my third star on ReviewMe after 4 months blogging. The one thing that was holding me back was Alexa and as most of you know I broke 100,000 about 10 days ago giving me that third star. Apparently ReviewMe has a little problem going on and almost all the blogs listed aren’t displaying the total ranking as all the stars are grayed out so I am providing you with a screenshot.

If you have noticed, I’ve still kept my price at $40 for a Review through ReviewMe considering that the “suggested price” is now at $100 per review. Also, I don’t know if many of you have noticed but I was hit with a major drop in Technorati recently due to some issues that Technorati doesn’t have answers for. What that led to was that my ranking dropped from the 15000 range to the 18000 range and after 7 days it is starting to rise again and is now in the 16000 range. Also, if the $40 price for a review seems a little excessive, you can actually order a direct review for 50% off and you even get a free spot on The Wall Of Blogs for the $20 that you spend on the review. Want to see what a review looks like? Well, I reviewed The Prize Blog last month so you can see what you can expect for the price you pay. If I’ve got you interested, then click on the button below:
