Video Posts = More Visitors?

Flip

So, I know that I have promised video posts before but this time I want to really give it a shot. I have seen many bloggers talk about The Flip which makes it really easy to record video on the go and upload it to a service like YouTube. Well, I have been trying to get my hands on one and hopefully I should be able to soon enough.

The idea with video posts is to make it interesting. The fact that I go to school and my drive can take an hour, I usually see quite a few things happening on a daily basis and hopefully Ill be able to record that for my visitors viewing pleasure. I also remember that a few months back I had promised to do a video post and I did record a video post too however nothing seemed to work out well as the sun was in my eyes and lighting was a big issue so I wasn’t able to post that.

Well I have seen John Chow carry around this Flip camcorder and record video on a daily basis which then allows him to gain more visitors. If many of you have seen his blog lately, the ability to upload video allows him to create updates much more conveniently and has increased his page views by two fold. I would really like to try this out for myself considering that I can probably try experimenting with better lighting or be able to find some interesting videos to post here.

Hopefully I can get my hands on a Flip but in the mean time, I guess the videos will have to wait or my production of videos will have to get better. Have any of you incorporated videos? If so, what did you guys use?

A Better ReviewMe?

I used to remember the days when ReviewMe could be easily manipulated by some bloggers but lately it seems that ReviewMe has gotten better at catching such bloggers. I recently had a small time zone glitch causing my posts to be delayed and ReviewMe sent me a notice asking me to rectify the problem. Although I wasn’t too happy about the notice, I appreciate them finally getting a little strict.

There were many times when bloggers were breaking the rules and still getting paid for the reviews. I also have to mention SponsoredReviews while I am here since I have received several counter offers on there but it seems as though SponsoredReviews has dug itself in a hole trying to make more money by allowing advertisers to make counter offers. I dont think it was that great of an idea as most of the counter offers are below $10 which may be an insult to some bloggers who have really high ratings.

Im a little surprised with the changes that have come about in the blogosphere in such a short period of time. I used to like SponsoredReviews and it seems like it is time up for SponsoredReviews. I do see a brighter future for ReviewMe as long as they are able to put out offers at the rate they are currently doing so. They are one of the more popular ones out there along with LoudLaunch and Smorty making an occasional appearance. Although Smorty and LoudLaunch are both dealing with not as many offers and low offer amounts, they still have a long way to develop. As for ReviewMe, I dont know if anyone else noticed that they have gotten more strict with bloggers meeting their guidelines. Which are some of your favorite pay-to-post websites out there?

Where Has It Gone?

So it seems as though a lot of the buzz created by hiking up Technorati and Alexa rankings has disappeared lately. I remember when I started blogging over a year ago most of the reasons why the Google PageRank was not granted to everyone was because of their involvement in link chains to increase their PR and their Technorati rankings. I wonder what has happened. I also read a report that blogs are selling for less compared to their average a year ago and that may not be good news to some bloggers.

John Chow, the super blogger as he is referred to by me, is still around and pulling in over $350,000 a year but surprisingly enough the trend seems to have changed quite a bit. Most of the blogs would be based around blogging and making money online but lately have started to sway towards the daily happenings in a bloggers life. Its interesting to see what has happened with some of the bloggers in the blogosphere over such a short period of time.

I know that my Technorati and Alexa have dropped through the ground and at first I was really worried in getting it back up quickly but, like reputation, those things take time and I am sure that sooner or later everything will return back to normal. Have you guys noticed a trend lately or is it because I have been out of blogging for a month or two now? Keep me posted!
