If you were able to read a little bit of the technology section of the news today, you may have realized that the iPhone prices have been slashed by $200 making the 8GB version only $399 and phasing out the 4GB version. The whole idea behind this story was, how is Apple going to make customers happy?

Well, in any kind of business you do, you have to realize that customer service is your number one priority. Without customers, you have..well..nothing at all! As a blogger, many of you have realized that keeping up with your readers is similar to dealing with customers. You need your readers for you to be successful and there are many things that come along with interacting with your readers. So lets take a look at them:

1) Replying To Comments: This is a big one. If your readers comment on a post, its very important for you to try and respond to all of them. I realize that it can be difficult sometimes based on the comment made but you should make the best effort to respond to their comments usually within a timely period.

2) Reading and Replying To Emails: The reason I put reading in there is that some bloggers look at the subject line and delete emails however I try to read the entire message and then respond to my readers even if the email doesn’t necessarily need a response. I do agree that Gmail considers about 25% of the email I receive from my website as SPAM but that doesn’t stop me from looking through approximately 800 spam emails on a daily basis. Sometimes, mistakes do occur and emails can be deleted but its all about taking the initiative to weed out the good from the bad!

3) Visiting Their Blogs: Most important is to visit the blog of your readers because you should seek inspiration from not only people who have been in the game longer but also from people who have just started playing. The reason is they might have ideas that may be better than yours. This could help you include them in certain posts and show some link love.

4) Comment On Their Blogs: I would have thrown this one and the last point together but I wanted to stress the importance of commenting on your readers blog. The main reason is so that they know that you visited and cared enough to write a comment on their blog. If you like any of their posts, let them know! That is how you network well.

5) Being Available For Help: Sometimes I receive emails asking me to blog about something or asking me for help with their design. Being available to offer advice and help is another way that you can build relationships in the blogosphere. This is beneficial to both parties involved and can help both parties involved reach a larger audience than they currently have. Currently, I am working with Nick from RomanDock to help integrate an RSS button into his theme and I guest blog for Brian Aldrich’s BlogDuck.

Well, I hope that you can take away something from that post and if you haven’t visited one of your reader’s blogs in a long time then go ahead and do so and leave a comment while youre at it! Thanks again for reading. I will be updating you regarding my wall pretty soon!
