BloggingTips & Issues While Being on a Trip/Vacation
So people like JohnChow, Ms. Danielle and Jane May have all been on trips during their blogging experience and I am sure that they have noticed drops in their traffic or something of that sort but I was a little surprised when I saw the drop in my traffic and earnings. Well, there isnt much I can do but try and offer some advice regarding blogging while being on a trip. So here goes:
Post as often as you can
Your readers will appreciate if you can update regarding your trips and if you can talk about certain experiences that you had while you were on the trip. Your readers know that while you are traveling it does get difficult to keep up with frequent posts but they do wish to see how you are doing and most importantly, what you are upto! I know, everyone has a bit of curiosity in them! But, you need to let your readers know the reason for your trip (if it is suitable) and when you should be back by. I think its very important to not neglect your blog entirely because that will only lead to a dramatic reduction in your blog readership. Remember, consistency is the key!
Post Pictures or Videos
Chances are that sometimes you may visit a place that others may not have visited or may not have the chance of ever visiting and by providing pictures you provide your readers with a visual and thats like putting a face to a name, it works wonders! Everyone likes looking at pictures and so if you are on a trip, its a good idea to take a camera along so you can snap a new pictures or videos to share with your readers.
Plan Ahead
By “Plan Ahead” I mean that you need to be able to decide how long you will be on this trip and make any necessary preparations to take care of situations that may arise unpexpectedly. I had told my brother to make sure nothing was wrong with the blog and inform me about it since I was only expected to go for one day. As the trip is now extended, I wish that I would have planned my posts better so that my readers would have fresh content on a daily basis to feast their eyes on! Either way, you need to determine how long your trip will be and whether or not you will require some help during the time that you will be on this trip. It will help with keeping your blog consistent.
There are some things that may arise as a result of being on a trip and here are some things you may expect to see.
1) Unapproved Comments – when you are on a trip, you may not be able to login to your admin panel to approve comments and that may not be too useful for you because your readers may just feel that you blocked or rejected their comment.
2) Unanswered Emails – well, this is bound to happen, if youre like me and computer access was hard to come by then you might have a few emails backed up that you should probably respond to, specially if its something regarding errors or problems with your blog.
3) Drop in Traffic – you may notice a slight or dramatic drop in traffic based on how long you will be gone for and if you have made the necessary arrangements. Sometimes, you have a drop in traffic even if you aren’t on vacation but even still, you should expect a fluctuation in your traffic.
Well, hope that clears up some things and provides you with some tips regarding blogging while being on a out-of-state trip. I would hope to have another post for tomorrow but depending on whether I get on the flight tomorrow, things may change but do check back often! Thank you for stopping by!
