Introducing Tech Support: Video

We always complain about tech support or customer support not being as helpful as we would have liked or that you cant understand what they are saying. As technology develops things keep getting more complicated. If you wonder how confused you were when you used a computer for the first time, then you may also remember the time when you asked someone for help with a certain computer issue. Recently I came across a video that shows how people in the Middle Age adjusted to things like “the book”. Obviously, its a comedy skit but it shows how help desk functioned, even back in the day, to help people learn how to use a simple thing such as the book!

Worlds Oldest Man at 111: Tomoji Tanabe

Worlds Oldest Man - Tomoji Tanabe

Tomoji Tanabe is the World’s Oldest Man at a 111 years of age and now he has a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records to prove it. Tomoji keeps a daily diary, drinks milk and says that he abstains from drinking alcohol and smoking. Prior to Tomoji being the world’s oldest man, the record was held by a man from Puerto Rico by the name of Emiliano Mercado Del Toro who was a 115 but who sadly passed away in January of this year. Tomoji was a former city land surveyor and was born on September 18th 1895. Japan is also home to the World’s Oldest Woman, Yone Minagawa who is a 114 and was born on January 4th 1893. According to the MSNBC source, the number of Japanese living past the age of a 100 has quadrupled in the last 10 years and the source of such long and healthy lives is attributed to their diet rich in vegetables and fish.

I wonder how much Mr. Tanabe has seen the world change. If I think back just about 10 years ago, I remember that I wasn’t really familiar with what a computer really did. I started using the internet in 1999 so it has been 8 years so far but I was really never into it until 2001. I just wonder how much things have changed in a 100 years – everything from electricity, automobiles, technology, medicine – it must be unbelievable! Either way, I guess we have to keep our diets good and exercise regularly to even see past a 100! I have to ask, when was your first encounter with the web?

Britain’s Got Talent – Damon Scott

Britain’s Got Talent

Sorry for the delay in having a post for today but I had an exam this morning and it was a little difficult to get to a computer before then. After my exam, one of my friends introduced me to a few YouTube videos of the show “Britain’s Got Talent” which happens to be the sibling of “America’s Got Talent” and their line up of judges seems a little more interesting than what we have. As you can see from the banner I created above, they have the infamous Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden & Piers Morgan. Although, I know that this has nothing to do with the general theme of the blog there was this hilarious audition that I just had to share with you guys. Its by this “chap” called Damon Scott and his partner Bubbles. If you haven’t seen the video then I am sure its going to be worth your time.

I was actually informed that Damon Scott was one of the Top 6 finalists however there was someone who was just better than the rest. I am including the audition of the winner “Paul Potts” who is a brilliant opera singer. I dont usually like opera but this just blew me away. Check it out!
