Do You Care About Your Blog?

October 8th, 2008 Posted in Blog

So I’ve been dwindling in my post count lately but thats been due to exams and the fact that I wasn’t well so I really couldnt help it but, I really missed blogging. I saw a post over at Joe’s blog that talked about schedules and I wonder what your schedule looks like. I know that my schedule is very erratic and just depends on what I really need to get done. Lets take a look at a day in my life:

1) 5:30 am – Wake up
2) 6:30 am – Leave the house only to sit in traffic for an hour
3) 7:45 am – Arrive at school and do a little bit of studying
4) 8:30 am – First set of classes begin
5) 4:00 pm – Classes end

Thats where the schedule changes, from 4pm to 8pm I usually stay at school and get my home work or projects or studying done. After that it continues on.

6) 8pm to 9pm – Take a break and eat dinner, watch some news/tv
7) 9pm to 1am/2am – Study, Projects, Blogging, Phone, etc.

So basically if you add all that up, I come around to be pretty busy when you look at my daily schedule. Whats worse is that if you notice, I get like 5 hours of sleep on average when I don’t have exams but that can drastically be reduced if I have school work to do.

What I realized while I was away was that I really missed blogging because its become like going to the gym for me. If I don’t do it, not only do I feel guilty but I feel incomplete. Its like I missed a step in my day. I try to make time for it every day but some days its just not possible.

I also realize that even if I don’t write a post, I’m still checking my emails, responding and even approving comments on a daily basis. I’m addicted but its more than that, I’m just really attached to the blog. I don’t even consider it a “job” or “work” anymore.

I wonder what you guys think about your blogs and if you feel somewhat “protective” about it because I know that this is my personal domain and that I can express myself when I feel the need to. Are you as big a fanatic as I am? Is it the same for you guys? Lets hear it!

Do I care about my blog (in general)? Yes.

Do I care TOO much about it? Maybe.

I’m always updating myself through my iPhone and it seems as if I can never stop. I’m not addicted or obssessed or anything, but maybe it’s just that I care a lot about it and what I do as an internet marketer and entrepreneur. All I know is that it’s never a bad thing to care too much. :)

You’re not alone in this one enkay! I think most who have been at it for a bit, find that their blog has become part of their life.

I am similar, 5-6 hours of sleep a day, but I don’t have school so my brain isn’t working FULL throttle all day lol, I guess my job could be considered using my brain, but not as much as studying/school does.

It’s perfectly natural to miss it, but just like the gym, it’s never good to neglect your health for it.

I am with you Enkay, and am addicted to my blog. When there is no activity, I find my self starring at it. LOL! I am thinking about design changes and what needs to go in there next, but still.

Like Joe said, you cannot neglect the gym and hope you guys are not, but you cannot neglect your blog either. You build this puppy and I am sure you love it.

Reduce your sleep to 1 1/2 hours and you will have plenty of time.
I know, I know, that is stellar advice, right?

I agree Joe. I just can’t afford to neglect it anymore. I learned my lesson after this summer.

I definitely care about my blog. And my other one. And I’m about to start up another specifically on affiliate marketing and somehow I know that I will get just as sucked in…I think I’ll have to stop at three or I won’t have time for other writing projects!! LOL

While it’s hard to keep a strict schedule every day, I try to set aside a window of time for keeping up with the blogosphere. If not, I usually get too wrapped up and can’t get anything else done. It’s good to keep an outline of your day, but leave some room in there for fun too! Hope you’re feeling better and good luck with your exams!

Well, I miss it, but sometimes, between collage and business meetings and traffic, I just can’t find time to take care of my blog.

Of course I care about my blog, what kind of question is that?

I hear ya on the busy schedule bit and usually do my blogging while I am either doing or supposed to be doing something else…

Also, I’m in the same boat as you are when it comes to the comments and emails. I check my email and comments multiple times per day even when I don’t post and will generally try to read other blogs if I get the chance. I don’t feel as guilty as I used to when I miss a post, but that feeling is still there a little bit.
