Do YOU Make Your Daily Rounds?
The big question is, Do you make your daily rounds? or better yet, are you able to make your daily rounds? No, im not talking about checking up on someone or anything of that sort. I’m talking about being able to visit your fellow blogger’s blogs and being able to comment. Its an important part of networking with others and it usually gets overlooked in blogging. Obviously, if you are in a crunch for time, you sometimes may not get to look around or comment for that matter.
Truth of the matter is, I do browse around all the people that visit my site but you just don’t know it. Now you might say, “Yeah Right”. Well, if you have noticed ever since MyBlogLog merged with Yahoo, I haven’t logged into MyBlogLog mainly because I didn’t want to merge the accounts. Well, I finally decided to do so. So basically, even if I did visit a blog before, you never saw me under “Recent Readers” because I wasn’t logged into MyBlogLog. Either way, lets continue with the main subject.
The idea of browsing around other blogs is good for several reasons. Lets take a look at what a few of those reasons could be:
1) Inspiration : For me, its very inspiring to come across a well written post or a post with a great graphic. It helps me pull the effort to write a post of that caliber. The fact that a post is well written helps motivate me to actually write better. Also, sometimes you are able to gain inspiration from what others in the blogosphere are talking about and its a great way to pick topics. (Note: I said pick topics, not copy-paste posts, thats plagiarism!)
2) Networking : I always mention Networking but the basic idea is that once you browse around other blogs, you slowly begin to communicate, even implicitly, with their author. This helps you in the long run in case you have a question or need a little advice. Its always good to have someone willing to help you because they know that you have been a part of their reading community.
3) Share Ideas : Lastly, sharing ideas is probably a big topic. I really would like to have a project in which a few bloggers got together to create something spectacular. Its all about teamwork and when bloggers share ideas, they end up discussing ideas to help better their blogs and its always a good thing. When you write comments, you are sharing ideas with the author and vice-versa. Its a fantastic way to get to know someone better as well as be noticed.
Well, hopefully you got a little something out of this post. I promise to try and find the time to write posts such as this one in the future. Let me know if you guys “make your rounds” around your blogging community and how often do you do it? Usually, I make my rounds once every 2 days. Have a great week everyone!

I actually do Do my rounds. I have all my favorite sites subscribed to (including you
) and I just go check their RSS feed. If there is something I know I can comment on/ be useful, I go comment.

I do try and do daily rounds as well as watch my RSS reader throughout the day to look for articles of interest. I try to comment on as many blogs as possible for networking mostly.

I make my daily rounds actually several times per day. I also try and comment on the blogs I read as well. I especially think the networking and inspiration aspects of reading other blogs that you mentioned are very important.

I am constantly checking out other bloggers and commenting on them – this gives me lots of opportunities to comment first on a few of the big name bloggers!

Well, I certainly do it, and that’s how I come here often. I have the blog feeds added to my Google homepage, and before I start working – my eyes are attracted to the latest posts from fellow bloggers.
p.s. I am interested to know who was the top commentator for Nov’07 and if it was me – what I can look forward to
