FeedBurner Gets On My Nerves!

October 24th, 2008 Posted in General

So the day I was all excited about my Feedburner count nearing 200, Feedburner decided to eliminate my Google feed readers and that lowered my feed count to under 150 for a few days. I don’t really know what the issue with Feedburner is but its finally getting fixed. Here is what the graphs looked like before and after:

BEFORE:

AFTER:

So basically what happens is that Google Reader tends to not be picked up by Feedburner. I know that many of you have that this issue but never really wondered why it happened. I wonder if Feedburner is working on a fix for this since it seems to be quite prominent. Have you guys noticed anything similar to this?

I have noticed this error myself, and elt me tell you it is a pain in the tocus! The numbers always flactuate and sometimes fall to zero on my high subscriber blogs and it gets annoying.

Mine fall to zero a lot. Oh well, nothing to worry about.

Well thats a pretty big cut dude. Here’s my explanation (my own). the feed count really fluctuate. When your subscriber/s via google reader or other readers, didn’t open or didn’t take a glimpse at their reader, feedburner doesnt count it as a reader. Same as email subscriptions when your subscribers do not click the link out of the email address… just my 1 cent :-)

I saw the same thing – all Google Reader subscribers disappeared on Monday, but then they were back on the Tuesday, while yours took an extra day to come back.

I don’t personally use Feedburner yet, I’ve looked into it a little bit but haven’t made the switch so I can’t really say here. I wonder if it was just some sort of glitch in the Feedburner tracking code or something. Did you email Feedburner about it? I have an email address for them if you need it.

Yeah man lol, them sum bees be messing up the feeds yo! How they gonna have trouble with their own freaking service! It has nothing to do with people opening it, google reader pulls the rss feeds no matter what, just like all other rss readers…that’s the point, you don’t have to manually update, they do it automatically. Since google reader is online, it doesn’t even wait for you to open it before refreshing, it’s already there.

My stuff be droppin like that man…I say forget them dudes lol.

Don’t worry, Enkay. Feedburner does that all the time. Yes, it is annoying but it happens more often than you think.

I mean, two days ago my feed count went from 550 and dropped below 300 because they decided they didn’t want to include any of my e-mail subscribers.

Well, after a day or two, it was right back where it was.

They usually exclude either the Google Reader or e-mail subscribers…. just a heads up.

Jay
