It was a blogger’s technique to use another name and image online if she/he feels it will make more for him/her. The thing is, he/she should always be true and wont scam his/her readers or followers.

You should always be careful when dealing with people online. You never know if they are trustworthy or not. There are a lot of scammers out there. So its hard to tell the scammers from the non scammers unless they have a reputation.

The internet allows people to be “faceless” so to speak, as one of your readers said an old man can go online with the pretense of a young chick or a young guy and con young girls ect. You get the idea. But I also have a problem with the so call “blogging gurus” who boast about how much they make online and will even show a check. For one thing, I’ve heard many people say that “the check” makes them really believe that it’s on the up & up, which I disagree with. Think how easy it is for some people to photoshop a check or fake a check? We all have to be very cautious when working or playing on the internet. Great post with good info. jj

You forgot to mention the classic online deception….the overweight 40 year old man pretending to be a hot 20 year old blonde chick. In the online world, it can be simple to trick people. Too many people are overly trusting, even when online.

Yes it is very easy to deceive online. I have been tricked a few times over the years, but there are countless other scams that I spotted right away. Most scams are quite obvious, but in time the scammers will get smarter and con people in more sophisticated ways.

Unfortunately I don’t think it would be different in years to come. It’s been really easy to do shady things especially if you can get a lot of traction. Its just sad because a lot of people really hope to win or get something only to find out they were scammed.
