K Alliance Review
So I have been writing a lot about k alliance lately and the reason is not only have they requested a lot of reviews for their great products but the fact that people need to know that programs do exist that help them achieve the results they are looking for. Whether its certification programs or training programs, K alliance is your one stop solution.
K alliance offers online and dvd video based training and certification programs to help you adapt to the changing work environment. Their online computer training programs are self-paced so you can complete them whenever you want to – on your time! The best part is that you can pick what areas you want to focus on and the software will help you do so. You can play, pause, stop, rewind and fast forward the videos as you please.
Their certification programs are one of the best out there and are developed in partnership with software companies like Microsoft, Cisco and Oracle. Their training programs are great and if you arent convinced yet, you should take a look at their customer list because that in and of itself is highly impressive. They know exactly what they are doing and they can offer you some great training and certification programs at amazing prices. So if you are in the market to develop your skills, to gain training and to move up the ladder at your company then K Alliance is for you!

I’m sorry but I’m going to disagree. I paid close to $350 for a complete set of Microsoft Office 2007 training CDs from K Alliance and I am not impressed. I thought it would be a great way for me to learn – and it had potential – but I can’t simply watch someone perform an action and retain it. I needed the opportunity to also perform similar actions to review and retain what I was supposed to be learning. I read that the CDs came with “Hands-on labs” and I contacted the company to specifically ask this same question, to see if it would be enough for my needs. They assured me that they had very good labs with their lessons. These “labs” are so simplified that they are a joke!
Furthermore, if the manufacture had simply provided their CDs with copies of the examples they used for lessons, there were things I could have quickly learned just by imitating some of the on-screen lessons. Instead, I had to either watch or waste valuable time trying to creating a similar document to practice with.
Additionally, I really wanted to beef up my Excel skills. My package has levels from beginner to intermediate. However, despite going through the whole package, I don’t feel much more advanced than a beginner. WHERE are the CDs which show me how to create and use various formulas? This is skimmed over, as is macros and pivot tables, etc. For all this money, couldn’t they have provided some real hands-on labs, copies of the documents the teachers were working with and, what would have truly sealed the deal for me, a workbook to practice with?
When I bought my Microsoft Office 2007 software I also bought a training program with it called Total Training Getting Up to Speed. This package was under $100 and I didn’t think this would have enough information which is why I also purchased the K Alliance software. Now, having shelled out the money for both companies products, I can honestly say that I feel the Total Training software packs a much, much greater value for the money. Hands down. If I were to do it all over again, I would only buy the Total Training Getting Started product because it gives almost the same information for less than $100 than the K Alliance one does for almost $350.

My company spent several thousands of dollars trying to provide the resources of KAlliance to the employees. To date, not one person has expressed any positives. There is virtually ZERO interactive learning or testing of skills. Instead you get “Professors” speaking in extremely monotone voices telling you about the program while showing you very little. Do you have a question regarding a specific thing, say how to Crop a photo in Word? Good luck trying to find which video you need to spend 2-5 minutes watching only to realize you watched (or daydreamed) someone with zero presentation ability NOT tell you what you wanted to know. Do you want sample tests so you can get ready for an exam? Not going to happen. You will be lucky to have a single review question at the end of a section, usually it takes multiple videos before you get a single, extremely basic question.
Even the layout of their own site is extremely lacking in any kind of quality. That is your first clue that something isn’t right. There is nothing that stimulates your mind in their website’s design so is it really any wonder there is nothing that stimulates your mind while watching their videos?
Boring, worthless rip off. I don’t care if the Better Business Burearu gives KAlliance an A- rating. They obviously never tried to use their videos to take a Certification Exam!
They do offer a wide variety of courses. Jack of all trades, master of none is their apparent philosophy. They should have invested all their time making the hundreds of courses into making a few dozen very solid and worthwhile courses.

I have to disagree with ALL of the furthe comments and agree with the review. K alliance has GREAT pricing for what they are offering… if any of these other people haad ACTUALLY gone to an Instructor led traing class they would see its exactly the same you get the same information…but more time for understanding. K alliance software maybe for the more advanced who knows…all I know is that my company and myself have used it and have had better results in certifications then when we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to send our employees to a class and have them come back just as blanked as we sent them.

K Alliance focuses on knowledge transfer and not certification. Employers want experience and knowledge, not necessarily how to pass a certification exam. If you look at their courses now, their quality is beyond than most of the self-study training providers out there.
Here’s a link to their latest Access 2010 videos.

The presenter is not boring or monotone.
Technical white boards are nicely laid out and not chicken scratch drawings.
