Managing Your Time

November 15th, 2008 Posted in Blog

As many of you know, I have been busy with school for a long time now and I apologize for keeping you waiting but some things just have to be done. It was a hectic past 3 weeks but it has finally come to a close with only a 120 page report due later this week which is well under way. I have done exceptionally well on all my exams (just so you know, I scored over 90% on all of them) and my GMAT exam which is a required exam for an MBA also went very well. Again, I score over 90% on the GMAT as well which is quite a big achievement, the way I see it. I think it was a good birthday present after all!

Since all this has been going on in my life, I decided to talk about how it is that I manage my time. Theres just so many things to do and sometimes I know that I feel that I hope that there were more hours in the day. Lets see if you agree with how I manage my time:

1) To-Do List - Everyone has a cell phone and if you don’t, then all it takes is a pen and paper to create a to-do list. A To-Do list can help you keep track of what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. If you are like me, my cell phone, ipod and my computer are all equipped with a to-do list so that I can make sure to keep track of everything that I need to get done.

2) Calendar - As silly as this sounds, a calendar is really helpful for someone like me who is a student or even a professional who is busy working. I print out blank calendars from the internet, specificially from this website, and then use it as a guide to match what I need to get done by what date. I use it to make sure that my assignments are turned in on time and I know several individuals who use it at work to keep track of project and report deadlines. Its really handy and it sounds really simple but it can really help you out tremendously if you use one.

3) Drive/Motivation - This last point can be controversial if you say that you’ve never been the “driven type” but its actually controllable. I know that I am super motivated to finish whatever I need to do. I dont take no for an answer and try to accomplish all my tasks. This involves being motivated and driven towards accomplishing the goals that you set for yourself. If I have something to do, I set my mind to completing it and I always make it happen.

So hopefully you’ve enjoyed this post. I know that it was short but I wanted to give you guys an update and see what you think about the things that help you manage your time. Keep me posted and Thanks again for all your emails and support. I greatly appreciate it!

I don’t have a to do list and my calendar on my phone isn’t even arranged properly! But motivation has been always high on me.. The fact that I do always wanted to get the highest grade possible for me makes me not forget my studies..

A notebook is really handy to have, you can have all three tips above in it…

To do lists are something I really need to start doing! I am really unorganised and would get so much more done if my day was planned.

I definitely agree with how you manage your time. I manage my tasks similarly. I always make lists or order tasks on sticky notes. I track any important dates on a digital calendar, and also a datebook. Finally, to keep myself motivated, I set daily and weekly goals of what I’d like to accomplish overall. You seem to be doing well with time management thus far. Keep it up!

I’ve been using a notebook lately to write down my to do list. But I also create a priority list of 3-5 things that I MUST get done for that day or I feel horribly guilty, the planets go all out of whack and whatnot. It really does help…

Don’t feel bad, I never seem to get everything done that I need/want to do in a given day, I just run out of time…

Congrats on the test scores; 120 pages is a huge paper, best of luck on the completion of it!

I’ve always set a reminder with a buzzer using my mobile. It really works but the down side is, the buzzer annoys me alot. =D
