Starting A New Chapter

Tomorrow, (or by the time you read this – Today) I begin a new part of my life. I start work full time after graduating with my Masters and Bachelors from the University of Houston. I actually start with a company I really love and I start with the work that I can really picture myself doing and I am fortunate to have the opportunity and the amazing job to make all my efforts worthwhile.

It seems like not too long ago, I started high school, a bit worried about what the future may bring about. Then started working on my Bachelors as a freshman just wandering around campus the first day thinking about where my next class will be or how long it might take me between classes to get to where I need to be. Carrying a map of the campus around in my hand as I stare off into “la la land”.

Then graduating with my Bachelors in Accounting and proceeding to complete my Masters in Accounting within one year. That was an entirely new process because I was more comfortable than ever, seeing I did my Masters at the same school, and I felt like I was finally really achieving something I wanted to achieve.

I know that I’ve had the opportunity and realize that a lot of people don’t really get that opportunity and I wonder what it’s like. I realize its their life and all, but still, it brings about a question in my mind.

Recently, when I was visiting Nick Throlson’s blog, I went to his About page to read a bit more about him. I was amazed at what he’s done and I wanted to actually congratulate him because he’s decided to take his future in his own hands by going back to school and doing his Undergrad in Computer Information Systems.

Stories like Nick’s are great to come across and I always wonder what that FIRST day at a REAL job felt like. I know many of you have your experiences and I’d love to hear them and hopefully after my first day tomorrow, I’ll be able to share with you guys how my first day was.

Working on MomsCashBlog.com

Hey guys, I know that I’ve been gone for a while but I’ve been a little busy with state board exams and such but I will try to post a bit more. As of lately though, I have been helping out and working on fellow blogger, JJ’s website, MomsCashBlog. I am completely re-doing her current theme which you can see below as well as the new design which I will post below that as well. I will discuss exactly what I did once the theme is live but for now, I’d love to hear your feedback. You can see her design by visiting her blog at www.momscashblog.com or you can see the image below. If you click on the image, I have put up a full page screenshot (almost – since the page is REALLY long!) as well so you can see the entire page! Here is her current design:

And here is what I have been able to do so far. Keep in mind that in the interest of keeping the load time low, I have reduced the quality of the image so if it looks somewhat blurry (either the screenshot above or below), its mostly because of that. Well here are the top and bottom portions of the newly designed theme. I don’t have a full page screenshot of these but I will soon:

This is the bottom of the theme, if you visit JJ’s current website you’ll see that there are a few things changed in the bottom here. I tried to clean it out a bit to keep it more consistent with the rest of the layout.

So let me know what you guys think specially because JJ really values good feedback so anything you guys have to comment on, just put in the comments and we’ll take a look at it. Ill be back soon with more insight about the design!

How Good or Bad is 1&1 Hosting?

This isn’t a review as most of you would think. I know that I haven’t posted in a long time here on Enkay Blog but I think the time has come that I do start posting on here. I’ve missed the blog a lot and school has now come to a close and that means, more time for my blog. Interestingly enough, this comeback post is somewhat weird for me. I have been with 1&1 Hosting for about 4 years now and have never had any problems but I started to get concerned after I received this email from a reader who is also a member on a very popular hand-held PC forum. A forum where I have been a member for about 5 years.

The email is as follows – ” Figured I’d share my experiences with 1&1. I am glad you are having good luck with them, but honestly, I have no good words for them. The domain was stolen a few days before the last PocketPC Magazine hit the stands, in which my software won a major award, and I was receiving a lot of exposure with DVD Catalyst Free due to a LifeHacker article. They took over the domain at the time the domain was the most popular, and nearly killed my whole business in the process. Because of their thievery, I’ve been struggling ever since. Finally last November I got a lucky break, but take it from me, change your registrar company before you end up like me.”

The thing is that I have heard of PocketDVD and I think that this story does have a lot of truth to it and I strongly feel for this individual. I also understand what is going on. I even looked up what this person was talking about and its very true – this has happened to a lot of people. Now, I figured that I am a loyal customer so why shouldn’t my hosting company be loyal to me? right? well, I want to ask these questions directly to 1and1 so I hope that someone is willing to answer these questions for me.

So, if anyone 1and1.com representative comes across this or anyone has had experience with this issue or has heard others that have had this issue please write in the comment box below as I would love to hear from you. So lets see the comments! Also, do let me know if you’ve experienced such problems or even similar problems with other hosting companies.
