My thoughts, are that the freebie, zip/email submits will convert better for the reasons you said, and those trial offers that require a credit card work good if you can use incentives on them. I know those freebie/get paid to sites are racking up the dough! It's good to see someone else getting in to this, and being able to watch you start it.
