Securing Your House

October 15th, 2009 Posted in General

I decided to look online to see how I could better protect my home. My neighborhood tends to be really safe but lately theres been a few break-ins and I wanted to see the possibility of installing a few cameras and connecting them to my computer in order to be able to record what is actually happening. Its just safer and I would assume that it helps with lowering your insurance costs as well.

Problem is that a lot of homes in my neighbor use these large Sony CCD cameras and it just makes it really obvious. Some even have the dummy camera system which obviously is no use. I wanted to install something that was more of a hidden camera system so I decided to do some hunting and came across Brick House Security.

The thing is that sometimes cameras that are “hidden” are so small that their lenses and clarity is no good but apparently brick house knows what they’re talking about. Check out the options they have, everything from cameras in a tissue box to a coke can. Theres even mailbox cameras and bird feeder cameras, the possibilities are truly endless. I actually thought this would be great just to have as a safety net. Its not that I’d probably use this as my main camera system but just something I could use in the event that I needed it. Either way, pretty cool website and lots of great little gadgets. The prices are on the high side though but im attempting to find an actual youtube video to see how this actually works. In the mean time, you guys should check it out!

I think the obvious cameras do a good job in just scaring people off. That is the reason we leave up stickers from a previous security company….it simply scares away most would be thieves.

The hidden cameras would still be good for extra security or even just pranks on friends.
