Stolen Content from Enkay Blog
Well, my blog has been live 29 days and tomorrow marks a strong 1 month birthday for my blog and its surprising to see that I have seen some of my blog content being stolen. Last time when I had done a review for Online Opportunity for a contest he is running, I had received a pingback request from a website that seemed quite suspicious and don’t get me wrong, I don’t consider it stealing if you copy and paste my content but at least give proper credit and a link back. The reason I consider this stealing is because most of these websites do not have any legitimate content at all, what they do is take posts like mine and replace all the links in the post to some aspect of advertising and make money if you click on it. Also the websites are LOADED with advertisements all over the place.
For example, I recently did a review of Ms. Danielle for her Zune Contest and within 2 days the content was republished elsewhere where all the links to her blog were redirected to paid advertising instead. Instead of going to www.msdanielle.com they were redirected to pay-for ebooks or other random advertising. I don’t think this is fair to me as a blogger and to those individuals who I link to. Thereby, I basically wanted to point out such websites because I wouldn’t want others content to be stolen or used in any misappropriate way.
Here is a screenshot of what the stolen content for Ms.Danielle looked like. On the content all the links were wrongly linked but if you clicked on Read More it would come to my blog and that didn’t seem right to me. I have also blurred the URL of the website because I don’t like to defame individuals openly but at least the next time you come across something similar you may be more cautious about clicking on the links!
Well, thats all for now folks, ill have more updates regarding this soon!
On the other hand, I wanted to thank all my readers and subscribers and those who are part of MyBlogLog Community for your support for helping me cruise through the first month of my blogging experience. Tomorrow I shall disclose my monthly earnings for the blog! I hope you look forward to it! Thanks again guys!

Changing the links in a post is definitely a black-hat technique. I’ve had posts stolen before, but just to reprint on an Adsense website, and they gave proper credit for the post. This is a new one to me.

someone did the same thing to john chow’s post today. i saw a ping back to my post with his content, from a scraper site — the WHOLE post (the one today about misc happenings, graphs and all!). unfortunately, there’s not really a way to stop anyone from scraping your content, at least that i’ve heard of. i think this is why many people only allow partial content in their RSS…

Jay – i had post reprints too but nothing like this one before. Thanks for your comment!
Ms. Danielle – yes, i noticed your contest mentioned on JohnChow. Thats a great boost for your contest! On the other hand, I know that nothing can be done about it but at least wanted to shed some light on it. Apparently a full RSS feed is better for subscribers thats why I have it but thank you for the comment!
