Top 100 Female Blogger List Revealed!

July 8th, 2008 Posted in General

Well, its that time of year again, I have finally released the Top 100 Female Blogger List which is a page on the blog so you can access it on the entire blog or by simply going to www.enkayblog.com/top100. With the last list pulling in hundreds of nominations and me not having to be able to deal with the demand, I decided to finally get back and re-work the entire list for almost 8 hours manually to come up with a new one.

Heres What Happened
It turns out that quite a few of you have moved URLs I have and so I did my best to make sure to account for that in the new listings. I also noticed quite a few blogs are dead, sadly, and those that were inactive for over 6 months were also not accounted for. In the end, I came up with exactly 100 blogs. I also have to say that I looked through my email archives to find old nominations so all those are accounted for as well.

Interesting Facts

  • - 98% of the bloggers have a PR meaning that there are only two that doesn’t have a PR yet.
    - The highest PR is 7 which is held by 4 of the bloggers
    - There are two bloggers in Technorati Top 100 with the best being Dooce at 43
    - Over 25% of the bloggers are in Technorati Top 20k (28% to be exact)
    - There are 14 bloggers with Alexa under 100,000 which is a difficult feat to achieve.
  • Compared To The Last List

  • - Almost 35% of the bloggers had a PR 0 compared to only 2% as of this list
    - 4 out of the Top 5 from last time are in the Top 5 again this time around
    - Only 81 of the bloggers from the last list are on this list
  • Want To Be Added To The List?
So those were some interesting facts. Now, if you know a female blogger or you are a female blogger and you aren’t on the list then please contact me and let me know your URL or the URL of the blogger you are nominating and I will try and add it to my next update. Do remember that you can nominate as many bloggers as you like as long as they are female! I would also really appreciate if you blogged about it and let other bloggers know about this list as well considering that it does take quite a bit of time as I do the list manually.Once again, Thank you very much and I hope you like the new list!

Thanks Debby. There has been some skepticism from some of the bloggers as to my reasoning for the list but I hope that more female bloggers get involved as this is a great way to improve their visibility in the blogosphere.

Wow, that’s amazing dedication to spend that much time on this list. It certainly is fun to see the top women bloggers. It’s amazing how much the list has changed since you first revealed it.

Thanks Nick. The list has grown by so much considering that it has been almost 9 months since I last updated. I have it set up to where most updates will take me 6 hours manually to do it so updates will be done more frequently from now on.

According to Chris Garet’s recent survey, female bloggers are indeed in the minority, but soon they will catch up. Your list may help them get more publicity.

    Great work!

Thanks Hendry. I really hope that the list catches on as it involves a large time commitment but I am willing to do it as long as the list gets better and greater female bloggers.

I was all set to write in and say ‘thanks’ but I’ve noted that yesterday I was something like #84 and today I’m #104. How did I become so much less popular in a day? Hilarious.

Hi Jen, I had updated the list again yesterday after adding in the nominations that I had received. I still have another 30 nominees to add to that list but I am going to wait this time. I’m sorry that you went down but It is definitely a huge honor to have you on a list side-by-side with such creative and talented women such as yourself! :)
