What Advertising Can Do For You
I have started to realize what advertising such as 125×125 banners or even a website review can do for a product or service. I recently sold out almost all of my 125×125 banners and lately I’ve picked up on quite a few website reviews as well. The big idea is, why should you advertise and does it really do anything good for me? We’ll lets start with why you should advertise first of all.
By the way, this isn’t self promotion, you can pick a blog that you want to advertise on, this is just an example on my behalf based on my results based on reviews done on my blog.
Here is why you should advertise:
1) Different Viewpoints - When you advertise your product, service or your blog you are able to get the reviewers take on what they think about what you have to offer. It lets the blogger tell you the pros and cons and gives you a different viewpoint on whatever it is that you want to advertise.
2) Traffic – Well, probably the main reason you advertise is because it helps you reach a new audience. It helps you get traffic because of the readers and subscribers on the blog that you advertise on. This is important because it helps you reach a reader base you may not have reached otherwise.
3) Create Buzz – Creating a buzz means that you are able to advertise on more than one blog and once people see you more than just once on a few different blogs they will be more tempted to check you out. This might mean spending $200 to advertise on 5-8 medium sized blogs and gaining a good amount of traffic or sales.
Here is what it can do for you:
I have picked a few of my posts and searched terms on Google to see how they stand. Lets take a look at a few of my posts even the ones that weren’t paid reviews:
1 – InfoLinks – I know I’ve mentioned them because I was happy with them. Well, search for “Infolinks Kontera” and you’ll see me in the Top 5 results or if you type “Infolinks Review“, I’m on the first page out of 200,000 plus results. (Original Post)
2 – Market Leverage - I love Market Leverage and the contest they sponsored with me shows up a lot. So much so that I still get traffic from it. Try typing in “market leverage laptop” and you’ll find 5 out of the 10 posts being either my blog contest or linking back to my blog contest. This is out of 225,000 plus results. Don’t even get me started on how many hits I get from people that are looking for an Asus EEE PC. (Original Post)
3 – Beauty Holding Review – I did a review for Beauty Holding not too long ago and if you type in “Invest In Models” or “Beauty Holding” you’ll find my blogs post on the first page out of over 25 million results. (Original Post)
4 – Publicity Wheel Review- I also did a review for Publicity Wheel recently and if you search for “publicity wheel” in Google, you’ll find me on the first page once again out of 1.7 million results. (Original Post)
5 – Blogging eBook - As many of you know I wrote an ebook recently and if you search for “blogging ebook” im on the first page as well. Its kind of tough to be on the first page but I’m there. This is out of 3.5 million results. (Original post)
So hopefully after all those examples, you might consider advertising more. I know that many bloggers charge what I charge for a review ($20) and you can get a good bit of exposure over the life of the post for your money. So if you’ve thought about it and want to buy a review at this blog or your favorite blog or on a couple of blogs then you should definitely think about it more. I know that sooner or later I’ll be investing in advertising on other blogs. What do you have to say about advertising?

I would love to get my blog reviewed by you bro, since i am struggling to get it rolling!
Also, congratulations on getting into the Alexa Top 1 Lac, you are really doing a gr8 job here.
My Bestest wishes with you
I love your blog and I hope to get a review from you soon.
yeah fantastic stuff, getting into the alexa < 100,000 is definitely an achievement, and yes would to get reviewed by you sometime, im still short on the content but when i do have enough content to meat the site out, a review would be a good investment.. keep up the stunning work..
cheers
Advertising is definately important. I haven’t really studied the numbers on Internet advertising, but it is definately different than offline advertising.
In my case, I am still building and developing my site and positioning, so advertising at this moment might be a waste. However, I did just win a free 125×125 ad on Sly Visions website, so this going to be my start. We will see, but I definately plan on advertising my blog in the near future.
something i needed to point out is that you have broken through the 100,000 barrier at alexa and while doing so are at 179 rss subscribers, it proves one thing, large rss subscriber bases don’t translate into traffic or popularity
The thing is, I’d rather have a better RSS subscriber-number than Alexa. Alexa isn’t really that accurate in my opinion.
You can get free advertising too. How? Blog commenting –> The most powerful way of blog marketing there is.
But it is true though that advertising on other blogs can greatly boost traffic and increase subscribers. I haven’t done it yet, but I’m thinking of buying ads very soon.
I agree with Sly on the power of blog commenting as an effective method of advertising and that’s the only advertising I’m currently doing for my blog. On the flip side, I have a couple of reviews for others too and the response has been pretty good so far.

Buying advertising on a high traffic blog/site can be a very good investment. But I guess that a site or product review is even better, because some readers trust what the owner of the site has to say and will surely visit your links you’ve added in the review.
Enkay,
I am glad that we could help bring traffic to your blog! Thanks for hosting the contest.

Yes
Advertising is crucial for your blog or any business. I haven’t ramped up my advertising yet for my blog but I will in the coming months.
Great post
I agree that advertising can be powerful…thanks for reminding me of a sales pitch post that I want to write, or maybe I’ll just work the sales pitch into another post.
Congrats on ranking so high in the search engines for so many different terms!
Enkay, half of my search engine traffic comes to my paid posts… whoaa! Most of my paid posts are on first page for their relevant intended posts… benefit to advertisers as well as my blog. Cool!
I need to get my advertise on! I don’t have many square mugg pics out there, I need some more. I haven’t paid for any reviews yet….but when I win free wins that are as quality as yours…well….it’s hard to pay for any!
But, advertising is definitely part of the game.
I agree that free reviews are great! I should maybe look for some more contests to win some again….and perhaps host a contest of my own…
That is nice SHOT advertising can be powerful…thanks for reminding me of a sales pitch post that I want to write…
one of my blog using infolinks. earning is slow real slow.
Yeah, I can understand. The thing with in-text advertising is that the earnings is much slower than say writing a paid review or Google Adsense.
